The Pioneer 10 and 11 space probes were launched by NASA in the early 1970's and besides the many scientific instruments they carried, they also took a pair of gold anodized plaques with them. These plaques featured a pictorial message which was designed to provide information about the origin of the probe to any extraterrestrial beings who may intercept it. Nobody really knows for certain if these messages will be understood or responded to.

During 2007, images of a strange "drone" craft flooded the internet and while believed by many to be an elaborate hoax, the people responsible have never come forward. Maybe there is some truth to it afterall?
